Trial of Forceps

• Anaesthetic as for LSCS - Block to T4 as potential to convert to LSCS
• 3-way octopus to cannula (Fluid + Phenylephrine infusion + Spare port)

Spinal

• 0.5% bupivacaine + 8% glucose ( 2.4ml ) + diamorphine ( 0.3mg )

Start phenylephrine ( 100mcg/ml, 20ml/hr ) once spinal is administered

• 2 ml bolus to clear deadspace
• Target normotension

Monitoring

• NIBP 2 min cycles initially
• ECG
• Pulse oximetry

Infusions

• phenylephrine ( Titrate to effect )

Antibiotics as per surgical team

Prescriptions

• Paracetamol ( 1g, QDS )
• Ibuprofen ( 400mg, TDS )
• Dihydrocodeine ( 30mg, QDS PRN )
• Ondansetron ( 4-8mg )
